TeZos is less coins in circulation than bitcoin.

85% of total teZos staked with 421 bakers.. only 15% is in circulation and been lesser and lesser every single day as we ending towards 2020.. I think there will be only 5% left after this year and no one selling them just because of passive rewards are associated with fantastic way.. this will boast the price really up and teZos has the first POS advantage on top.. 1.76 billion USD staked in dollars. This serious guys.. please share your vision and thoughts about it..

Something I've always wondered but not really addressed

So there are over 16 million BitCoin's in circulation. Obviously this isn't accounting for lost/dead BitCoin's. So assuming one were to sell 1% of the current BitCoin market supply for, this would be 160,000 BitCoin's. One might value this at over a billion dollars based on 1 BTC at $6,400, but in a "mass sell" the person with 160,000 coins wouldn't get anywhere near this amount.
So firstly assuming no government agency flagged over a Billion dollars transferring to GDAX in one spend, and GDAX didn't hold the funds, and someone put a sell order of "$1" essentially buying the entire buy order book... This would cause the highest exchange to drop, while all other exchanges are still trading at $6400. A domino effect would happen as just the bots alone on all other exchanges would auto sell due to BitCoin dropping 10,000% or more since CMC/WCI value a coin based on the average price of all exchanges.
My question is where does the overall crypto value go as an entity? CMC currently values all blockchain's at 210 Billion, but all price points are based off Sats. So one person sells 1 Billion of the current 210 Billion, which is 0.005% of total crypto value, but we all know total value could drop below 100 Billion. Where does this value go? Or in the entire market seriously inflated?

You are right about the lost coins and guesstimate about the ones in circulation.

As for the 50 coins example, what will the next 50 coins be sold at? What about the next next 50 coins? Will they all sell for 1 million? If not market cap is not 17 trillion. There is a reason why small purchases do not mark the price but the trends are (i.e. after hours purchases vs daily min/max in stock market). I already answered in another comment about this. In 2017 $2B was invested into Bitcoin rapidly that caused the spike to 20K, but clearly it did not stay there, so in the long term Bitcoin market cap did not justify the $340B and today we are sitting at somewhere around $60B (which is the result of many many billions of dollars fueling into it over the last 6+ years). Talking about spikes are not that useful, talking about stable price points are. If we want Bitcoin to be stable around 1 million dollars, at least (ant that is at the very least) 4-5T of investment needs to go into it over a period of time so we do not see immediate sell offs from from people who made bank in the short term.

Let me give you a simple example, say I bought my coin at $1000 today and tomorrow it is worth $100,000 because some crazy billionaire bought 1000 coins with his $100M out of a whim. If I am not a religious HODLer and plan to make money off of it, I know that it is not reasonable for Bitcoin to jump 100x in one day and that it will likely regress. Thus I would sell while I get the chance and wait for a price point cheaper than $100,000, whatever I can get to buy the same amount of coins or more. This is what happens if there is a huge imbalance on the amount of money flowing to a commodity and the market cap of it. There will be massive selloffs if the market cap is not justified. This is mostly how bubbles form and burst as can be seen time and time again in the history of markets (Tulipmania to EastIndiaCompany etc).

If bitcoin is a limited supply, will it ever 'run-out' due to hardware failure and such losing coins? Or at least drop largely in circulating supply over a lengthy period of time?

All these posts about people losing keys to BTC back a few years, what if this continues to happen on a large scale?

[uncensored-r/Bitcoin] BTC is still the clear choice. BCH has massively inflated the amount of coins in circulation.

The world’s first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin is stored and exchanged securely on the internet through a digital ledger known as a blockchain. Bitcoins are divisible into smaller units known as satoshis — each satoshi is worth 0.00000001 bitcoin. The number of new Bitcoins created each year is automatically halved over time until Bitcoin issuance halts completely with a total of 21 million Bitcoins in existence. As of June 20, 2017, Bitcoin has reached a total circulation amount of 16.4 million coins, which is about 78% of the total amount of Bitcoin that there ever will be in existence. But 21 million is the maximum cap which is yet not fully mined and not in circulation. As of now, 17.7 million coins have been mined and the total coin supply halves every four years. Due to this, the last bitcoin will be mined in the year 2140 and after that, no new bitcoins can be mined as per the Bitcoin protocol limit. New coins are minted every 10 minutes by bitcoin miners who help to maintain the network by adding new transaction data to the blockchain. Bitcoin 101. Disclaimer. Any data, text or other content With Bitcoin's price at $, you'd need bitcoins to be a Bitcoin millionaire in dollars. Since there are BTC in circulation, there are a maximum of people holding bitcoins. In all likelihood, the number is much lower than that and probably around 30,000-60,000 people with more than $1 million worth of bitcoins.
